Fortier ‘55/55th Reunion 2010

Schedule of Events

(Please forward Registration form ASAP)

The following are the events we have planned to celebrate our ‘55’s/55th reunion.  It will be a full weekend of activities and fun.  We hope you will be able to attend all of them.

Friday Evening             March 5, 2010                       7:00-9:30p

“Meet and Greet” at Mid-City (New) Rock & Bowl.  3000 S. Carrollton Ave.

Food, Drink, Beer, Wine and 50’s Music (and an option to bowl).  Casual Dress.   FYI – Those from out of town might not realize Rock & Bowl has moved next to Ye Olde College Inn.  It is beautiful and quite a party venue now.  The parking is in the lot of College Inn with extra parking behind the building. Barbara Brown is working with the Sugar Bowl committee and will use it also for upcoming Sugar Bowl events.  My wife’s Fortier Class ’59 just used it for their 50th.  It’s a great  place to meet and greet old friends.  $25 per person.

Saturday                     March 6, 2010                       __    10:00a

A free Tour of the Fortier Campus/now Lusher Charter High School is being arranged.   Since Katrina our Alma Mater’s building has undergone a wonderful transformation.   The Gym has been completely rehabbed, thanks to a donation from a German corporation after the storm.  The football field now has stands and night-lights because of contributions from the Drew Brees foundation.  Students and staff have toured alums of Fortier Classes ‘56, ‘57, ‘58, '59 post Katrina.   You can see classrooms including modern science labs, music, dance, and theater facilities.  All who have toured have given rave reviews.   Donations will be solicited during this weekend to help the school along as has been done by the other classes who have toured.

Saturday Evening         March 6, 2010     __             7:00-10:00p

’55’s/55th Reunion Party will be held at Mother’s ‘Next Door’ Restaurant, Tchoupitoulas and Poydras.  Truly a New Orleans tradition where no one will go away hungry as promised by their party specialist.  They will be presenting their ‘French Quarter Party’ menu, which includes the mixings of all their Po-Boys, plus lots of other treats. Cash bar available.   There will be lots of time left for those who’d like to party on and the French Quarter is walking distance.  $55 per person.

Sunday Brunch             March 7, 2010                       Time 10:30a

Metairie Country Club Brunch Buffet, 580 Woodvine Ave., Metairie

This will give everyone another chance to visit as our reunion comes to a close.  As those of us who were there in 2005 can recall, Metairie Country Club truly offers a wonderful environment for visiting.  Bring your photos and memorabilia here.  Cash bar available.   $35 per person.
