On 26 Jan 2010 at 11:33, Email sent - Pat Carey wrote: "I was Patricia (Patty) Franson when I lived in NO. Thank you for contacting me. It was good of Melvyn Fourmeux to call me a while back. I will not be able to come to the reunion. Although I have wonderful memories of Fortier, I left Jan. 1955. My father was transferred to the Pentagon and the NO school bd. let me graduate then. I was in DBS sorority for the year and a half I was in NO so when you sent info on students I was eager to read how they are. I remember many students in my classes too. The girl I knew the best was Carole Stafford who died years ago--what a shock that was. I would love to hear from anyone from our class. I have my yearbooks. Have a wonderful time. Email from Virginia Girouard Moret

Although my husband and I won't be making it in to New Orleans for the reunion, I did want to thank you and the reunion committee for the wonderful job you are doing in putting everyone in touch.  Your web site is a great resource as well as a pleasurable way to stroll through memories.  Know the 55th will be an outstanding success.     Virginia Girouard Moret

FYI Fortier Yearbook CDs available: [Note: these CDs are simply digital file scans of double pages in the yearbook. At least that is what the '55 CD is. They are of a high resolution so one can view details on a page.] One can download these files to their PC for easy retreival at any time.

Producer's Note: I have reproduced 9 Fortier Year Books on CD. They are all exact copies of each year book. The years are 1954, 55, 56, 57, 58, 59, 60, 61, 62. If anyone has misplaced or lost their yearbooks over the years, they might want a CD Copy of it. I have put a really reasonable price on them. They are $20 for 1, $35 for 2, $50 for 3 and so on. 2/5/10

Just poke with Tess Lansing Schutte a short while ago. She suggest we create a 'Memory Book.' Like this idea, do you?

An example of how our conversation went: Tess is married to the President of Pratt, an architectual and art school of 4,700

From Fortier went away to college and haven't returned since graduation. That her 'brother' had evacuated to Houston after Katrina, but because of health wasn't able to return, though he'd like to. I gathered from our brief conversation that she'd love to attend the 55th reunion but likely can't because of other planned trips.

2/5/10 My very brief history (Dick Juge) as an example TO GET THINGS STARTED: "Left Fortier in January of '55 to get the GIBill as it was phasing out 1/31/55. Mother was widowed and poor, and I wasn't much of a student. 4 years in the Coast Guard (terrific years) ending up as an Electrician 2nd Class after participating in a historic vovage www.TheHistoricNorthwestPassage.com explains. Went to LSU in the school of architecture, but just didn't have the ability to financially handle it and married Nancy Kuss, (Mr. Kuss's daughter - our boy's counselor) in 1960 so we're soon to celebrate 50 years. Spent 35 years as a State Farm Insurance agent in New Orleans, retiring 1999. Two great children, a daughter (Jen Kottler residing in Arlington VA and married to a CapitalOne banker who's in charge of small business banking USA with 21 year old grandaughter graduating American College in June) and son (Richard, owns RE/MAX Commercial real estate firm for New Orleans and Northshore, also President of CCIM USA, with Beth his wife of 13 yrs, son 11, 9 and a girl 7). Highlights in life have been many, including the years at Fortier, in the Coast Guard, marriage of 50 years, still alive in fair to good health, four wonderful grandchildren, retired to downtown New Orleans, even with a great fishing camp. Much to be pleased about." Also much left unsaid.

2/7/10 Re: Classmate Dick Morris to be with us at our 55th reunion. No photo in yearbook. Here's why:

The reason I did not attend Fortier in the 1955 year was that I got early admission to Centenary College in Shreveport, even though I did not have enough credits to graduate from high school. I completed high school by correspondence and actually took my last final for high school at L.S.U. in Baton Rouge on my way back to New Orleans after spring semester finals at Centenary. That gave me enough credits to graduate from Fortier with the class of 1955. After that I took a Ph.D. at the University of Washington and have had a career as an academic historian. I mostly taught at the University of Hawaii and at Ryutsu Kagaku University in Kobe Japan. Now I am retired but still teaching history at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. Virgil Dixon (Dick) Morris Jr

Will be fun visiting with Dick. We have many classmates with many interesting stories.
